FYI, this is only because we don't have a "real" keyboard shortcut (Ctrl-something) for Research in OneNote. (If we did, it wouldn't matter how the button was displayed.) Showing the text on the button reveals what's called the "accelerator" (the underlined "R"), which is what causes it to pick up "Alt-R". This is the same mechanism that causes Alt-F to open the File menu, since it's showing an underlined-F accelerator. (If you customize your menu and remove "File", Alt-F will no longer do anything.)
