Keyboard disabled

I have a problem in all my Office XP programs where the
keyboard seems to be disabled. I have also tried the on-
screen keyboard and that also doesn't function. The
keyboard works OK in all other applications and this has
only just occurred.

Does anybody have any ideas?

I've just started getting the same problem, although I'm
running Office 97 on an old Win98 config. Keyboard is fine
in WordPad, Notpad etc but not in Word, Excel or Outlook.
I've tried re-installing Windows and Office but to no
avail.

I'd check the settings for Speech recognition in your MS Office Apps. Has
it somehow been turned on?

Thank you for your response. Voice recongnition was not on. Someone posted a response to someone else with this exact problem and apparently there is a new virus that can cause this issue. I don't know if it is correct since I had to nuke the machine but here is the link
