WHile typing, my words will jump into different parts of the documents. It
isn't the cursor moving. Where my letters are being inputted will suddenly
jump to another part of the document.

eg if I am typing in the third line, it will suddenly start typing in the
first line.

I am not hitting other keys on the laptop.

Note it is a new Vaio and this has happened since i bought it.

I am operating Windows XP and office

Hi Miles,

You may want to check to see if your microphone
is turned on. Office includes a speech recognition
module option.

hey Bob,

Checked and since my microphone doesn't appear to be working (don't use a
headphone and the microphone test didn't register any volume so assuming it
isn't on). Interestingly, doesn't seem to happen when using my browser
(though use firefox and not IE shhhhhhh). Only when using ppt, xls or word.

To Doink, not touching my keypad.

Hopefully some others have some info.

thanks for taking the time

Hi Miles,

Do you get the same problem if you start the
Office apps in Office safe mode (hold ctrl
key when starting Word until you get a safe mode
confirmation box).
