keyboard mapping bold, italic, underline

I process words all day long. Is there a way I could map toggle keys for
bold, italic and underline? I am hoping to learn how to tell my keyboard to
use <Ctrl> B, <Ctrl> K and <Ctrl U> instead of / * - in the numeric pad in
Office programs. Thanks!

After furious headscratching Milly repeated half AdrianaMex' question:

I'm not sure I understand your question, Ctrl+B and Ctrl U are assigned to
Bold and Underline, and Ctrl+I is assigned to Italic, in most applications
by default. Are you saying these don't work for you? If so, what application
are you referring to?
