Keyboard mapping problem

My keyboard seems to have got mapped to different set of
characters. When I type a word it prints as something
else. I tried rebooting, removing office 2000 and
reinstalling but it doed not work.

You need to change your keyboard language:
Start - Settings - Control Panel - Keyboard - Input
locals - Change
and then install the proper keyboard language.
