Keyboard not typing correct keys

I am working on a ppt file that I created. For some reason the keys that I
type do not display the correct characters inside the ppt. For example when I
press the left arrow key my cursor moves to the right and vice-versa. When I
add a bullet it goes to the end of the sentence rather than the beginning of
it. When I press "(" it types ")" and when I press "*" it types "(". I have
moved the ppt to a different computer and it does the same thing. The
keyboard types the correct characters in all other applications. Can anyone
help me with this? I can send you the file or I can host a live meeting if
you can help me with this urgent matter.

I should have mentioned that my comptuer is a US computer/keyboard etc.

That is really odd. Have you installed a local printer driver on your
computer? It sounds weird, but it solves a lot of unusual problems in
PowerPoint. See:

If that doesn't help, then try answering these questions:

* What version of PowerPoint are you using?
* Does this problem affect all PowerPoints on your computer or just one?
* You said you tried it on another computer. Was this other computer in the
same company (with likely the same exact installation as yours)? If so, have
you tried it on a totally different computer, possibly outside the company?

It only affects this one ppt file. I can actually copy and paste teh text
boxes from this ppt into a new ppt based off of a different template and the
keyboard works fine. The two computers I have tried on are not very similar
actually, one is Vista x64 and the other is Windows 7. Both computers have
Office 2007. If ou want to take a look at the file I can email it to you
shoot me an email offline if you want to try that. My email address is john
marcum (no spaces or anything) at gmail dot com.


Currently I am trying to move copy and paste the entire thing into a new
template because I do not know how to just apply a different template to the
entire document. I really don't want to change templates but I will if I have
to. The ppt is 99 slides so moving it all into a new template 1 text box at a
time is going to take a long time.
