Keyboard not working - Office apps only - help!

J

John Fryatt

This one is weird, or seems it to me anyway.

I recently installed a slightly iffy bit of software on my PC. Just an
application though, nothing devious or techie. In the end I had problems
with it and now I've removed it.

The problem is that now all the MS Office (97) applications do not
respond to the keyboard.
Mouse functions are ok, but I cannot type anything. Other apps, such as
Outlook Express (good job really or doing this post would be a little
tricky!) are ok. Only the Office apps seem affected.

I've re-installed Office and I've re-installed Windows 98. Still no go.

The only thing I can think of to do now is to reload the whole system
from scratch, but before I start, has anyone got any idea what's going
on here?

Thanks, John

Since this is hardware related, try posting to a group that handles hardware
issues for Windows 98. The only possible relation to this group is that the
Office applications are not responding, which is a hardware, not software
issue.

Well, I'll give it a try, but I am not sure it is a specifically
hardware problem.
If there was a hardware problem why should only Office apps be affected?

Same thing happened to me. Definitely not a hardware
problem

Did you find a solution? We have the same issue. Current hot fix and service packs for OS and SP1 for Office 200

TIA
