Keyboard problem

I have a computer here (Vaio Laptop to be precise) that is doing something
weird in Word.

When I hit Alt-Down on the keyboard, Word registers Ctrl-Alt-Down instead.
I'm not touching the Ctrl button at all! Same thing when I hit Alt-Up, it
does Ctr-Alt-Up instead.

Any ideas how to solve this? And how can I check to see if the problem is
occurring only in Word or in other applications as well?

Thank you!

No, if the Ctrl key was stuck down it would be impossible to type a text on
the keyboard, it would keep triggering shortcuts...

Have you checked Tools | Customize | Keyboard to see if Alt+Down
(NextObject) and Alt+Up (PrevObject) have been reassigned? FWIW, there is no
built-in assignment for Ctrl+Alt+Up or Ctrl+Alt+Down, so these must be
custom shortcuts.
