Keyboard Shortcut for new word template

Tim

I have setup a different template that I am using a lot for the next
few weeks. Does anyone know of a way to bring that template up either
by a keyboard shortcut or macro and icon. Right now I have to do, File
-> Project Gallery -> My Templates and then my file. This is in Word
2004, using Mac10.4.2. Thanks.

Hi Tim-

The macro is easy- just go to Tools>Macro>Record New Macro. Type in a name
at the top (no spaces) as well as any descriptive info in the bottom box.
Then click the Toolbars button or the Keyboard button, although you don't
have to do either at this point. You can do either now or later if you want
both a button and a keystroke... In fact you can even add it to a new or
existing Menu as well.

Go through the steps of creating a new file based on your template and when
the doc opens click the Stop Recording button on the special (very short)
toolbar that appears in the upper left of your screen.

You may want to review Word Help using a keyword search for 'customize' to
get a number of topics pertaining to assigning macros to buttons, assigning
keystrokes, etc. If you have any difficulties post back with specifics.

Good Luck |:>)

Sorry, but it does not work that way. The macro buttons go gray at the
moment I click on "file gallery." I already have the template under "My
Templates" in the gallery. Maybe I am missing something.

I must be really tired or stupid, but I must be missing something.
What I did do was start the macro, then I opened a new document and
made the modifications to the document that I had saved in my template.
That worked, so onward ho.
Thank you,
Tim

The toolbar just dims because you can't quit recording while the dialog box
is open.
