Is there any keyboard shortcut to reach the "name box"
field in Excel??

Control-F3 brings up the Name dialog box, which is almost what you want.
By default it creates a new name, just as the name box does.

Thanks for your help. I was able to use the function you
provided. BTW I'm not a spammer and wish to write you back
personally however, since the time I have started chatting
on ths chat board at least I have been receiving lot of
spams

Don't use your real email address in a public forum. There are two methods
of defense. I use both.
1. "Munge" your email address by adding extra characters to it. That's
what I did.
2. Use a "throwaway" email address. Use an email address until it starts
getting spam, then switch to a new one.

You should never give out your main email address to a public forum.
Spammers will certainly find it.
