Keyboard Shortcuts for Justification

This is a weird little bug....
Ever since I installed Word 2003 the justification/tabs/etc. have worked
like this: If I select center justification, type my line, and hit enter,
the cursor is still in the center of the next line. But I can easily move it
back to the left margin, not by using the mouse to change the justification
again, but by simply hitting backspace. Similarly, if I am typing paragraphs
with the first line indented by .05, and hit enter, the cursor on the next
line is automatically at .05. But again, I can move it back to the left
margin by just hitting backspace and not having to go into the paragraph
formatting menu.

BUT, for some reason, when I turned my computer on yesterday, this simple
"backspace" shortcut is not working. Now, when I hit backspace from a line
that is center justified, it moves me, not to the left margin, but to the
right side of the previous line. Similarly, if my cursor on a new line is at
..05 and I hit backspace, I move up to the previous line, not the left margin.
I'm not sure what setting I could have changed to eliminate the backspace
shortcut but it is making me crazy. Any thoughts/advice?

Go to Tools > AutoCorrect Options > AutoFormat As You Type and restore the
check mark on "Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces".

Thank you! That was making me nuts. I never go into that menu, so I don't
know how that box got unckecked in the first place.
