Unfortunately not, and I really really wish we had that. You shoudl use
the Send Feedback command in the Help menu to let MS know you want this,
The more people ask for it, the more chances we have to actually see it
implemented one day,

thanks for the info - seems like a pretty glaring omission - I'll definitely file a request.

Personally, I just use the red squiggly lines to alert me rather than
running the spell check. YMMV

In Spelling Preferences, I have everything checked EXCEPT "Always check
spelling before queuing...." and "Suggest from main dictionary only".

Another option is to use SpellCatcherX. What's nice about it is it's
available in all applications plus it has other features like the
auto-shortcuts. More info here:

Insert text automatically into a message (Part One)

Sure, but how do you tell Entourage that you are writing in French
instead of English for instace??

As far as I am concerned, SpellCatcher X is a must have application
(disclaimer: I participated in the locatlization in French of this app).

When we get developers that use multiple languages. :)

Sorry, I totally was using US centric thinking as well.

Some people in the US speak more than one language.... I sort of heard
that Spanish was on the rise for instance :->

As you well know, multi-language support is an issue close to my heart,
but I do believe it does affect a LOT of people.
