Keyboard STILL won't work in WORD

Forgive me Cybertaz,(and other members) I thought I responded earlier
but I see that my remarks weren't added to the thread in the previous
email, so I'm starting again.
I should have been more specific in my first post yesterday. I had,
in fact, tried ALL of you good suggestions,
updating OS & Office software, repairing permissions, check the Normal
template, etc.

I'm still left with the same problem. Have you other suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Halliesdad

Well, I'm honestly not certain what might be causing it. If this were Office
2004 I'd suspect a corrupt font cache, but that isn't often the case in X.
If you've followed all the suggestions so far plus the efforts you listed
there might be one or two other considerations: When you reinstalled Office
did you run the Remove Office utility *first*? If not the reinstallation did
practically nothing as indicated in my first reply. (I only bring this up
because you don't specifically mention having done so in either of your
posts.) If you did there is an outsider at work which you may not even
realize is there:)

I don't think it could be a language setting or anything else in Word
itself - there is no "turn off keyboard" command or anything of the sort.
And if all is well in other apps there must be something preventing the
signal from performing as it should. So...

Do you have any third party programs (utilities, or "haxies") for keyboard
shortcuts or other "added functionality" that might be interfering? Try
holding down the Shift Key while you launch Word. If that enables the
keyboard it means there is some other software interfering. If that doesn't
have any effect, log out then hold shift while logging back in. If that
enables the keyboard there is something in the log in settings that is
loading at that time an causing the problem.

You might also create a new user account, install Office for it & see if you
have the same problem.

Well, to all following this thread, the answer was finally to do a
archival system install of OS X. Went to the Apple Genius bar as
well, and after trying all good suggestions listed here, plus a few
more, that ended up being the final solution.

Thanks all.
