Keyboard - Typing Hangs

MS Word 2002 opens normally but when typing, one
character will appear, then all other keystrokes are
delayed several seconds. Can only advance 1 key or
character at a time. All other MS applications work
fine. Keyboard functions in all other programs,
including Excel, outlook etc. Have reinstalled Word after
removing but no change. Started without any notice or
error warning.

Rename normal.dot to normal.old, then relaunching Word. That fixes a lot of strange problems.

Does the problem happen with a specific (large) doc, or does it even happen on a new document? If it's just with a particular
big file, than you are likely looking at a resource issue (Ram, hard drive space, or something like that)

Hi Calvin,

You may want to rule out Speech Recognition. Take a look under the
Tools menu and see if Speech is enabled.
