Keyfield null error

A form for new student’s demographics has a subform for selecting courses,
which has been used for 6 months on 6 computers in a Frontend-Backend network
configuration. In the last week, when a second field is started in the
subform or the subform has lost focus the error message, “keyfield cannot
contain a nullâ€, appears. The keyfield (SS#) in the form has data entered
and the link child fields and link master fields properties for the subform
are the SS#â€.

A SS# textbox has been added to the subform and the textbox shows the
correct SS# data when the subform gets focus. Exiting the new student form
gets an error message that the record can not be saved. The table that is the
record source for the new students form has the new student’s data just
entered, but the table that is the record source for the subform data does
not have the entered data.

In the same database there is another form which shows existing students for
editing and it does not get the error message when editing or adding data in
the same transaction subform (this subform is the same as the subform in the
new client form except its name is select course returning student.

The users are now entering new client demographics in the new client form
and switching to the edit form to enter the subform transaction data.
