Keynote Attachment/Stuffit question

I recently upgraded to Tiger from Panther. Suddenly Entourage won't
let me attach Keynote presentations.
I get an error message that says "Aladdin system Stuffit software must
be installed on your computer."
Well, I have Allume (which I think used to be Aladdin) Stuffit
downloaded. I upgraded to their latest version yesterday, and that did
no good.
I try to change Entourage Preferences, since i'd only be sending
Keynotes to Mac users, and under preferences i can change the encoding
and compression, but lo and behold, when i go to attach a message, and
click on the long bar under the Attachment pane, it says "no
compression" is selected, even though i HAVE selected it in my
preferences.

any ideas??
thanks

There are two issues here. The first one is the problematic interaction
between Entourage and Stuffit; that functionality is somewhat broken, and I
can't remember which update did this. Anyway, I would recommend moving away
from Stuffit, as the Finder allows you to create ZIP archives (select a
file, then right-click on it and select "Create Archive" from the contextual
menu). The advantage of ZIP archiving is that these files can also be easily
opened on other machines.

As far as Keynote documents are concerned: a Keynote file isn't actually a
single file, but it is a folder package which contains many different
subitems. Entourage cannot attach folders to a message, which is why you
should zip the Keynote file and then attach it to a new message. By using
that method, you work around the problems that you described in your post.

I can't thank you enough, Michel. I didn't even think of the archive
option in Finder.
that worked perfectly. I am so happy to find such a simple fix! Thank
you so much for taking the time
to set me straight; it's much appreciated. I thought I was going to
have to search forever for a bug fix.
