Alright. This is really starting to bother me, as I've never had this
problem in Word dating back to its 4.0 days. I want to drag a column, let
go, and NOT have the blasted thing go off on a resizing binge.
I've tried using Alt to override the grid, but the column never stays where
I dropped it. This appears to be a common problem for some of us.
The culprit appears to be the specified widths under Table Properties. I
don't want them, but I have check boxes selected under "preferred widths" for
Table, Column, and Cell. When I try to modify the default table template,
these options are greyed out.
Bottom line: I want these check boxes to die. How do I kill them so that I
can drag and drop column edges?
