A few days ago, I was opening an Email when the phone rang and someone came
in the door with a question. The email requested a read receipt, and I
accidently I clicked ‘Yes’. I guess I was distracted.
I cannot send from that account -- our company server blocks outgoing
traffic (from Outlook, anyway) on that port. The decision is part of their
security plan, and they will not budge on the issue.
I have two questions.
First:
How do I configure Outlook to disable a ‘send’ on a particular IMAP account?
(Alternatively, POP3 or Connector -- I can reconfigure to either option).
Second:
Every time Outlook did a ‘Send/Receive’ it tried to send that receipt, (and
logged an error on the server). If I had accidentally clicked 'send' on a
message, I could have deleted the message from the Outbox – no problem. A
read receipt, unfortunately, does not show up in the Outbox. It just sits
there, invisible, and keeps on trying to go.
I tried everything I could think of (other than posting here), and spent far
too much time trying to ‘kill’ that receipt. Finally, I removed the entire
account, bounced Outlook, and re-added the account. That worked, but it
seems like overkill.
Other than removing and re-adding the account, what else could I have done
to ‘kill’ the receipt? (Where does Outlook keep it, anyway?)
Thanks in advance
