Kind of a Macro

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Soo I know Macros have been removed from this version of word much to everyone's dismay. I was wondering if there was any way, however, that I could use a simple keyboard shortcut to "type" a certain word or sting of words.

For instance, I am writing a script, and I don't want to constantly have to keep typing each characters name. (such as by pressing Command + 1 for the first character, Command + 2 for the second etc.).

I would rather not use auto correct. If there is some other way I can do this using automator (only applying this keyboard combination to Word) I would be open to that.

Thanks

Yes: It's called AutoCorrect. Look it up in the Help.

Also look up "AutoText" in the Help topic "Have Word complete your typing".

Use AutoCorrect for small things you want dropped in while you're typing,
use AutoText for larger lumps you want to insert from a menu.

Cheers

Thanks for the input, but as I had said, I would rather not use autocorrect, I know it does basically the same thing, but i was wondering if I could simply use a controllable keyboard command for it.

You can assing keyboard commands to autocorrect & autotext. The quesiton
is, why do you rule out using the feature that does exactly what it is
you want to do? That's like asking for sunlight, but ruling out using
the sun.

That's why I suggested reading the help :) You can assign keystrokes to
AutoText.
