KM tracking in Timesheet

Hi all,

What would be the best way to track kilometers in a timesheet if it's
possible? The reason I ask is that some of our employees are required to
travel for certain projects and we would like to track the kilometers
travelled along with all the other project information.

Rick,

Kilometers, and any other type of travel-specific information, should be
tracked at the task or assignment level and not via the Timesheet function.
After a resource who has performed travel associated to a task goes to My
Tasks and imports data from the Timesheet, the resource needs to attach
notes/comments to the tasks with travel information prior to submitting the
task updates to his/her PM.

If travel is commonly associated with tasks, you could create an Enterprise
Custom Field to track Kilometers Travelled at the Task level. Then, when a
task note/comment is received by the PM which involves Kilometers, he/she can
update the Kilometers Travelled task field accordingly and remark in the task
notes an explanation of the modification. You could also then use the
Kilometers Travelled field in views, reports, etc.

This suggestion is merely one way of introducing a tracking mechanism for
kilometers at the task level. I hope these suggestions help you determine
the solution that is best for your situation.
