Kudos and thanks

Hi folks,

I'm returning to Access a couple of years after playing around with it
for personal use
and one non-profit org volunteer effort. But this time the stakes are
higher: DBs for my employer's paying clients.

I thought I understood normalized DBs and how to do lookups, but then I
started reading
the Access Web and its 10 commandments and was crushed to discover that
lookups are bad. Even worse: Access Web didn't suggest an alternative!
I was tied up in knots.

Thanks to this and the other Access news groups, and especially to the
MVPs,
I eventually searched and read enough of the archives to get myself
untwisted, and
realized that I have been using lookup tables all along, and not the
dreaded lookup fields.
Score one for disliking MS wizards.

On the other hand, I've been painfully hand crafting those combo boxes
all along, too.
So the wizard score is even!

I had no idea these groups existed the first time around. They are
invaluable, and you MVPs
are gems. Kudos to you, and thanks for your answers waiting in the
archives for me to only
ask the right question.

Cheers,
Uncle Boo

I quite agree that the MVPs are invaluable. Please tell me how to use the
Archives. Thanks.
