L-shaped markers on page, argh :)

Hello -

For some time I've been seeing four l-shaped gray markers on any
document I open in Word 2002 on WinXP in Print Layout. For the
life of me I cannot get rid of them. I've serached the Net and
tried various solutions but none of them work.

Here is what I HAVE tried already --

-- Start > Programs > Office Tools > (My Office Tools start
directory does not contain any "version" listing or language
options so I can't get into language settings from there).

-- Control Panel > Regional and Language Settings > Uncheck box
for East Asian (this does absolutely nothing, the markers remain
regardless).

-- Altering formatting borders and boundaries from within Word.
(This is not the issue.)

-- looked into language options within Word itself -- don't see
any option to disable or uninstall Japanese/Korean support etc.

So ... any other suggestions? Obviously there is something in
language support that needs to be uninstalled but I just don't
know how to get to it. I've stopped using Word for the time being
due to these markers.

Thanks for the suggestion but that was the first thing I tried.
These are not the dotted text boundaries, they are light gray,
l-shaped border markers, or "crops" if you will residing in the
header and footer areas outside the margins in Print Layout. From
everything I've found on the net it has something to do with
having East Asian language support installed, but none of the
recommended solutions I found to remove them has worked.

ALTERNATE SOLUTION --

For anyone who had the same problem I did, I have found a second
solution --

IF you do not have the Language settings icon in your Start >
Programs > Office Tools list for some reason --

Go -- My Computer > Local Drive > Program Files > Microsoft Office
Office 10 (or version X) > and look for an application file
(.exe) "SETLANG" -- open it, select any East Asian languages and
click "Remove." voila -- no more pesky gray markers!

It's the same as has been stated before but like I said, if you do
not have the icon or can't find it -- this is the direct route.

Hi Arthur;

I have had the same problem for the second time in two years...the annoying
corner marks and the "Asian Typography" tab on Word>Tools>Options.

I have removed everything you suggest and the marks are still there! Any
new thoughts?

Thanks, Jon
