Label alignment when printing

Does anyone know how to rectify misaligned labels? The
template is correct and the sheet of labels is correct,
they just print out of sync, too high up.

Thank you

Hi Alice
When I am building labels templates I often find that the Avery A4 sizes
don't line up properly. I found the cheapest way around this (to avoid
wasting expensive labels) is to make the table gridlines visible for the
labels. Print the page out on plain paper and hold it up to the light with
the actual label page in front. Keep adjusting the top margin of the page
until the gridlines match up with the cuts in the labels. Usually it is just
the top margin that's the problem, the label sizes are usually pretty spot
on. Once you've got it right press Alt Ctrl U to get rid of the table borders
and then save the file.

It's a bit fiddly, but once you've done it you can save your labels document
so you can use it again.

My previous experiences with misaligned labels has always been that the
normal.dot template has been customised in some incompatible way. Typically,
the user has added a field in the footer to show the filename and path of
the document, or to insert the date, something like that. As label templates
are based on normal.dot, the customisations are incompatible with label
template.

As Genine suggests, format the gridlines as borders and print out the label
sheet on plain paper. Then hold it up to the labels and try to see where the
misalignment occurs.

Aside from Terry's suggestion about customising normal.dot, the other reason
you have problems could be your printer driver.

Some printers, such as deskjets, need a larger top margin, so they can grab
hold of the paper and drag it through the rollers.

In this case, printing the labels as is to another printer may give you the
correct result.

If it's the only printer you have access to and you have the latest drivers,
and you have not customised normal.dot, then you will need to tweak your
labels document as Terry and I suggested.
