Label Borders not appearing on screen

Melanie

When I create a new document of labels - the label borders
do not appear. The tabs are correct and I can move from
label to label, but I can't see any borders. Any ideas?

Thanks!

These are not borders (which print) but grindlines - which show up on screen
but don't print. They show up on screen if you have that option set. Look
under the tables menu for a command to show/hide gridlines. (Labels are
really just a preformatted table.)

Or use Avery templates (a free download) which work much
better than Word's label templates, IMO.

The Avery tool does nothing that Word will not do on its own. This is an old
and poor piece of software designed with Word 97 in mind. Nor does it
address the problem, which here is that the table grid lines are turned off.

Hi Graham,

This is what I thought as well and it is true of their wizard. However, I
ran into a problem with a set of 3/4" round labels where the label is not in
Word's list and would have been a real pain to set up. Avery has actual
templates that can be downloaded. While they aren't wonderful, they aren't
that bad; they beat trying to set up something like that manually.

It still wouldn't help this user with the problem. I'm pretty sure gridline
settings are application wide rather than specific to the document or
template.

I see what you mean about the round label template - and that would need
some work also - but it is the Avery label wizard for Word that is poor.

For awkwardly shaped labels - in fact anything much more complicated than
address labels, I prefer to use either Publisher, or better still,
Surething - http://www.surething.com/ST/Category.asp?CatCode=PRODUCTS,
especially the CD labeller which produces superb results on photo quality
labels - but we are getting sidetracked here :)
