Label mail merge

I set up a data source for mailing labels, but can't get it to print. Am
using Word 2000SSR1.

My extension of the data source (names, addresses) is a .doc extension. I'm
thinking it should have been saved as a mds file and that might be the
problem. I have tried to resave a test file, but that doesn't work (at least
I don't know how to get it to save other than as a document. Thank you so
much
