Labeling Horizontal and Verical Axis

Just bought Office 2008 the Student Edition for Macs. I'm having trouble with Excel when I'm trying to label the axis on my charts that I want to produce. The old excel went through steps in which you could name the axis. I don't know how to label them at all. I've searched for this problem on the Internet, and it doesn't seem like I'm the only one having this problem as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
