Labels - problem with MS Word

Your label arrangements are very frustrating. They are apparently keyed to
the style MS Word defines as Normal (regardless of what changes the user has
made). This means that when you try to print a page of return address labels
- on small pre-packaged labels - the machine automatically sets them up with
the first line "indented" and in 11 point type, so they can't possibly fit on
the actual label. And if you try to change the "default" for labels, it
messes up the "default" for normal documents you may wish to create. You need
to change this. I would suggest (1) separating the "label" default from the
"document" default; and (2) going back to a "plain vanilla" arrangement for
labels. MS Word 2003 was SOOOO easy and did everything I needed.

The answer is easy peasy. You select your label size, then use the New
Document button. You now have a page of empty labels. Select all the cells
and edit the Normal Style so that font, spacing, indents and alignment are
EXACTLY as you want. (Note that if you cannot see the label boundaries, turn
on the View Gridlines under Table Layout.) Now save your sheet as a TEMPLATE
assigning it the label size as part of the filename.

Then with the cursor in one of the cells, create a NEW style, base it on No
Style and give it a sensible name (I suggest using the label Number again,
so 'L7160 Add' becomes an obvious Style Name). Apply that Style to all the
cells and save the template again.

Now use File, New and select the template whenever you want to create a
label manually or by MailMerge.
