Labels & Zip Codes

I just made up a batch of labels using the embedded
wizzard in Word 2002. Importing the data from a
spreadsheet, I found that the program dropped the leading
zeros on the zip codes although the spreadsheet cells
were properly formatted and mapped.

Is somebody aware of this and working on it?

Hi,

If you select the offending field in your document and
press Shift-F9 to reveal it's code, you can correct this
by adding a numeric picture switch:
\# 00000
to the end of the field (but before any other switch (eg
\* mergeformat), if there is one).

Cheers

for some reason this is resulting in the literal "00000" in all my records
where the zip starts with a 0. any thoughts?
