Labor category check

(MSPS 2003) As you know, you can use up to five (5) different labor rates
(A-E). Is there a view I can create to show, at the assignment level, what
rate is being used for a particular resource? For example, I want a list of
all tasks assigned to "Joe Smith" and what labor rate was selected for each
assignment - without having to open up every project. Any help?

This is an interesting question, and I thought I knew the answer. My game
plan was to have you create a new Assignment view in PWA and to include the
Cost Rate Table field in the View. To my chagrin, this field is NOT
available in an Assignment view.

Short of this solution, your next best option would be to create a detailed
Project view that includes the Assignment table in PWA. In the Assignment
table, you CAN include the Cost Rate Table field. The limitation, however,
is that you must click the hyperlink for each project individually to see
the detailed View for the project. Alternately, you could also create a
custom Task Usage or Resource Usage view in Project Professional 2003 that
includes the Cost Rate Table column, but again, you would need to open every
project to see. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale, I'll give the Project view it a shot.

The "assignment view" approach was what I was leaning towards - but I found
the same thing you did - the absence of the Cost Rate Table (which defies
logic as the Cost Rate Table ties exclusively to assignments).

Thanks much!
