Lag time in performance with Outlook 2007?

I am having a hard time with using the new Outlook. It seems to be making a
huge perfomance hit on my new Dell XPS M1210. Even trying to type a simple
e-mail it pauses in the middle of typing for several seconds. Accessing
folders or file menus...I have the same problem. Is anyone else experienceing
this or can offer some suggestions.

I have already tried running diagnostics and checking for updates.

Do you use Word as your email editor? If you do, if you turn that off does it
improve performance?

Locate extend.dat and outcmd.dat and rename them to .old. In addition I
recommend recreating your mail profile;

If you still experience trouble, you should think of running the scanpst.exe
to check for any errors on your store file.

Also try disabling/uninstalling any antivirus or search tool (like google
toolbar)

I agree. I have a brand new Dell 9400 Inspiron E1705 that's running on 3gb
Ram and has a 3Ghz Core 2 Duo processor. It's running like an old 386! I have
Outlook 2007 Enterprize and I can't even use it because of the lag... and the
frustration. Has a solution been found as of yet? I really need help. And
another MS Office and another laptop are both too expensive. I need this one
the road. For some reason though... I only have this problem with my laptop.
The others are not Dell computers. Hmmmm..... Any ideas?
