Landscape dilemma in Word v.X

E

Ed Lovas

At first landscape made itself the default... I was able to resave the
templates to use portrait... so when I open a new document everything is
fine. But, no matter what existing document I open... Word automatically
changes it to landscape mode and I'm forced to change the layout back to
portrait. This has become extremely annoying!

HELP!

Could the print drivers be the cause of such a dilemma?

No, the cause of that dilemma is a corrupt section break.

Use File>Page Setup to change the layout, and make sure you choose Whole
Document as the scope. You MUST then save the document for the change to
stick.

If when you re-open the document it goes back to the way it was, then either
your section break is corrupt or you did not set Apply To to Whole Document.

The former is more likely.

1. Create a new blank document,

2. Carefully select everything in the old document EXCEPT the very last
paragraph mark

3. Copy

4. Paste into the new document

5. Use File>Page Set up

6. Save the document under a new name.

If your Normal Template was bad when you created those documents, they will
all be bad, you will have to do this to all of them.

Hope this helps

Cheers
