language issue + Word98

I'm trying to modify my styles but I can't seem to get rid
of the Japanese language setting.

In my style I have this listed:
Font: Slimbach, 10pt, Black, (FE) Japanese, (Other)
English (US), Char Scale 100%...and so on.

In the language dropdown in the format menu I have English
(US) selected. I would normally delete the style but
unfortuneately it is the "Normal" style and you can't
delete that one!

Thanks!

Hi Kate:

Yeah, I have had trouble getting rid of that property too. You can hammer
it with VBA, but it is not available via the user interface in non-asian
versions of Word.

If you delete your Normal template, that will fix new documents.

You can choose not to worry about it for your other documents. It's only
the Far East Language Property that is affected: to western flavours of
Word, the language in use is English US.

Hope this helps
