I use Microsoft Office 2003. Currently it is enabled to spell-check in
English, French, and Spanish.

I also own, but do not use, Microsoft Works - German version. This has a
German language lexicon somewhere on the CD. How do I extract it and use it
to set up a German spell-checker for MS Office?

Thanks for this. The German proofing system works in Word if I install the
German version of Works. But I really don't want the whole edifice of a
German version of Works installed on my system merely so that I can use the
German lexicon. Which is why it would be nice to "extract" the German
lexicon from the Works CD.

I have never found where I can buy the Proofing Tools CD, despite poring
over endless MS web pages. Also it seems a little crazy to buy multiple
languages in order to obtain one that I already have , albeit hidden
somewhere on my CD.

Thanks again,

Bill

Question #8 at the link I gave you says, "How can I get the
Proofing Tools for Office 2003 Editions CD?" The answer to that
question contains a link to an online order page. All you have
to do is click on the link. No need to supposedly pore over
endless MS web pages.

Exactly. Blind I am not. However the answer it gives is:

"In the United States, you can order the Office 2003 Editions Proofing Tools
CD online. Outside the United States, proofing tools are available in
stores"

I am outside the United State. It is not available in my stores.

Back to plan B. Pore over more web pages. Pointlessly.

Thanks again.

Thank you. You seem very keen that I should pay out 65 pounds for something
that I already own. I cannot imagine that it is really so difficult to
install the German lexicon, which I already own, from my Works CD.
Certainly the try might be worth the 65 pounds.
