Laptop screen / projector toggle issue

I am running PPT 2003 ... I am experiencing my laptop - - indepentent of a
command from me - toggling from a "laptop + projector" mode to a "projector
only" mode, during a presentation (after several hours).

All my power settings are set to "never" and my screensaver is turned off. I
did notice that my monitor settings were set for the projector being the
primary and my laptop as secondary. Could this be the problem? Help!

Wow, I've never seen anything like this. I think I'd call the laptop
manufacturer and see if they have any ideas.

I am definitely looking into it ... see my discussion thread on the XP Help
and Support newsgroup for other thoughts on this same issue:

Good suggestions/discussion over there.

You might specifically update your video drivers. Changing Hardware
Acceleration also fixes a bunch of wonky display issues.

Flickering lights and power supply. Hm. Very interesting.

Have you been able to repro this behavior?
