Large email won't leave outbox

Hi,

I have an email sitting in my outbox with a few gif images attached. I have
tried to send this several weeks ago, but it still hasn't left my outbox.
Every time I click on 'Send/Receive' it states it is connecting to server.
The email is 18mb in size.

Do I need to leave outlook open for an indefinite period of time for the
email to be sent ? I only have outlook open sporadically when I use my laptop.

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

this happened to me, and it was because I had too many emails in my sent
box....its was very full. So, when I tried to send, it could not move the
file over to the outbox, and or from the outbox to the sent file. It stayed
in the inbox, and would send it to people a million times!! (or 25 of so).
So, after delelting a lot of mail from the sent box, it went thru ok, and
moved over to sent items fine.

I tried what you mentioned, but to no avail, the email still remains in the
outbox.

any other thoughts appreciated.
