Large File crashing excel

Hi there. I have a 178 MB excel file that continues to cause Excel to become
very slow in responding. I have the pagefile on the machine set to 1750 MB,
there is adequate HDD space and there's 512 MB RAM installed. The processor
is Intel P4 3.2 GHz, so the machine has the guts to process this. Any ideas
on the crash? Event log says nothing....

That is a huge file! And really not a lot of ram, when you run it, look in
your task manager and see what kind of resources it is taking up. Other than
that do you have calculations going? Data automatically importing? Macro's
running? My personal guess is smaller file or more ram.
