Large file size after inserting pictures.

My "Word" document file size increases dramatically after inserting JPEG
images using the "insert picture from file option". I even used the "link to
file" option during the picture insertion process, but the file still grows
to a large size sfter inserting and saving the document (i.e. 100K JPEG
results in a 3Meg file). This doesn't occur however until after I attempt to
reduce the picture size in real-time by highlighting it and scaling it down
using one of the diagonal corners. I'm using word 2002/SP3.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Scaling the picture in Word results in the scaled image being kept in the
document. If at all possible, scale your pictures outside of Word.
