Large gap before footnotes

I have entered footnotes to a document (Word 2003). For some reason there is
a 4 line gap before the group of footnotes on every page. Even pages with no
footnotes have lost this large space on the page.

Any idea what could be wrong?

Hello,
Entering is not good way how to move text across the page. Try
Inster>footnote>option> place at: bottom page.
Now the footnotes are placed at the bottom of page (just above the margins
set for the documents)

Chances are some space got attached to the footnote separator--read #5
here "Random Lines Appear" to see how to reset the separator.

If that doesn't work--Sorry, you’ve landed in a MacWord group (not your
fault, one of the web interfaces is *very* badly designed). Try
