After defragging the HD the other day, I'm getting an annoying
anomaly. When I open up an existing document, Word is defaulting to
Print Layout view. When I switch to Normal view, or if I open up a new
document (which is in Normal view), I'm getting a very large right
margin of blank space past the regular marins on the ruler. If I
scroll over, the scroll eventually ends, but the blank white space
extends right to the edge. The white space also extends to the bottom
edge, but not for as far. The text, headers, footers, etc, stay within
the correct bounds.
I've tried Detect and Repair, Repair from the Install CD, uninstalled
and re-installed Office 3 times, run up to date Norton Anti-Virus,
replaced Normal.dot on the machine with a copy from a good machine,
tried to fiddle with any settings that seemed remotely relevant, with
no luck.
I'm running Word 2000 on Windows 2000. I'm not positive the defrag had
anything to do with it, but I also lost my wireless connection on this
machine and had to unplug/plug the router and modem and go back in and
enable the connection to fix that. I also recently installed a new HP
photoprinter, but it had printed fine before. Now it will print, but
only after a delay of several minutes. Does anyone know what's going
on and how to fix it? Thanks.
