Large Scale Timeline workable?

I have a project with over 1200 tasks over a year long project. I went to
have it printed and the printed said it would take 6 pages, 42" tall by 108"
wide. Are there suggestions for scaling this down? I would like to getr ate
least 3 months at 42" x 60". Also when trying to print calendars, it will
not include all the tasks for that day as some days there are 10 or 12 tasks.
Is there a way to print a calendar with all the tasks for that day? I
notice there will be 3 tasks in the calendar view..when I select Task List,
those 3 have check marks next to them. What do thos check marks mean and do
they determine whats get listed on that day? If I change the WBS code, I am
sometimes able to get another one to be added to the day...does this affect
anything else?

Staceman,

The only way I know of to tweak the Calendar view information to display
more is to go into the Print Setup... and reduce the Scaling factor down to
the lowest tolerable %, readability-wise.

Have you explored the View tab options in Print Setup...? Or, nust the tasks
show in the graphical calendar layout?

Well, kind of. I appreciate the response, but we are already using a large
format printer. I guess the problem is that I wrote a poorly constructed and
rambling question, I apogize. The last statements are the most relevant:

Staceman,

If you have access to a plotter, that will be your best bet for printing the
fewest pages. You will still be constrained by the paper width the plotter
uses (i.e., multiple horizontal banners), but you should be able to go into
the Printer Properties and set up a custom paper size that best fits your
needs.

Hope this helps! :)

Be sure to reduce the font size in your calendar tasks and reformat. You
might squeeze some more on there.

Hi Staceman ,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

In Calendar view, first try right clicking and choose Layout Now... and
Project will show as many tasks as will fit the size of the day. Task
List... lists all the tasks that are scheduled for that day - the tick
indicates which ones are actually shown on the screen and the rest are tasks
for which there is no room. If you notice the heading for each day, those
days with too many tasks to fit will have a tiny down pointing arrow - this
means there are more tasks that can fit in the space. You could try
enlarging the space by moving the cursor over the horizontal boundary
between days until you get an up/down arrow - click and drag down to make
more space until the little arrow disappears. You can also try Format/Text
Styles... and reduce the size of the font (keep it readable!)

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
