Large schedule creates computer processing issues

I'm currently trying to create a schedule for the next year in MS Project
2000 and am encountering problems due to the size of the schedule. The
Project file itself is over 30 mb and consists of 600 lines of tasks all of
which are linked in some way. When I try to level it or switch to another
view it either takes a long time (>10 minutes) or doesn't ever work. Is this
a problem with the computer I'm running it on (Pentium 4 2.8 gHz 512 mb RAM)
or with Project 2000? Thanks for your help.

Hmmmmm. A 30 MB file for only 600 tasks sounds excessive.

for a possible corruption fix.
