Large size of file makes Visio 2003 slow

The company I work for uses Visio 2003 to create layouts of our plant floor.
The layout is currently 16MB and loads very slowly. Is there a way to easily
reduce the size of the file? For example, are there some aspects of Visio
that increase the file size more than others?
