Large Sized-Spreadsheets Are Dropping Formulas!

I am having an experience with a large (2.7MB) spreadsheet
that is downloaded through a LAN.

We have had several experiences when a large spreadsheet
will drop formulas! The cells are replaced by the #REF!
error message.

There are no external links or cell references. The
deleted formulas are of the simple =A2345+B2345 or =SUM( )
time.

I could not find any mention of this in the Knowledge
Database. We have tried resetting the font and other
things to reduce memory size, but 2.7MB is the smallest it
appears we can get.

Has anyone run into this?

Are there any macros that run on this, or is anyone perhaps deleting any rows or columns, as you
would get this error if the formulas referred to any cells on those deleted rows/columns.

No, there aren't any macros of any kind in this
spreadsheet.

The formulas are intact when saving, but after its
reopened about 1/3 of the formulas are gone.

It follows a pattern: most of the missing formulas are on
the bottom half of the spreadsheet - as if Excel stopped
trying to save the formulas.

We have duplicated this problem several times. It seems
to stop once file size gets below 1.0GB. Unfortunately,
this isn't possible with this most recent spreadsheet.
