Laser Printer like HP1300

Sorry of this is a little off topic but I am desperate and recall from posts
over the months some of you may have a mono laser printer particularly the
HP1300.

My PagePro 1100 L broke down (terminally) yesterday and I have to urgently
get a replacement. I have shortlisted the Brother 5050 and the HP1300 the
latter I seem to recall was used by some of you guys.

I have been fooling my PagePro laser to print right to the bottom. I need to
print down to about .3cm maximum bottom margin otherwise I will waste in the
region of 6,000 pre-printed letters I use in my small business.

Any thoughts on mono printers especially the two on my shortlist would be
appreciated. Also if you can give me the smallest bottom margins sizes. I
have a user manual for the HP but no trace of this figure.

Hi Len,

Why not try installing that printer on your computer
(doesn't matter that you don't have it physically) - then
run Word with that printer set as default - go into Page
setup and see what it will allow you to do.

As most of us can't afford more than one or two printers I
find this a very successful way of coping with others
people's machines.

According to the HP Quick Specs the bottom margin is 5mm on an LJ1300.

Thanks for that. I spent ages looking on the HP website and even downloaded
the user manual but nothing after a looooong time. I have 'bitten the
bullet' and have now ordered an HP 1300 from Staples for delivery today.
