Hi,
I'm using the version of Visio for Enterprise Architects that comes with
Visual Studio 2005 (11.4301.6568).
Visio is my prefered tool for creating Database Model Diagrams. However,
I've encounted an issue in this new version that, for me, is a shopstopper.
In previous versions, columns that were not nullable were in bold and
nullable columns used a plain font. This no longer seems to be the case.
Steps to recreate: create a new Database Model Diagram, drag on a new
Entity, create some columns in the entity, then switch the "Req'd" checkbox
on and off in each column in turn.
Initially, with no columns marked as "PK", none show up as bold - this is an
unexpected change from the previous version. Required columns should be bold
and optional columns should not be bold.
If you turn on the "PK" checkbox for all columns and then try each "Req'd"
checkbox again, the first column will switch between bold and not bold, but
none of the others can ever be made bold - again this is an unexpected change
from the previous version.
It seems that the first column with PK set on will display its nullability
in the diagram through boldness but none of the other columns will ever be
bold irrespective of their "PK" or "Req'd" checkbox state.
I can't see how this could be by design - there seems to be no use or
meaning with this arrangement. Hopefully I've simply forgotten to turn some
option somewhere on or off but if not, and this is a bug, will there be a
patch soon?
Regards,
