Launch Error re Framework Library

We are using Office 2004 with the latest update installed, running in OS
10.3.9. This morning, a user reported seeing an error when trying to
run a macro. The error basically said that it couldn't open VBA. I was
ultimately able to rectify that problem by uninstalling and then
reinstalling Office (plus the update). However, now every time Excel
(and Word) is launched, there is a message saying that there was an
error opening the Microsoft Framework Library. I searched both this and
the Word newsgroup and found a few things to try (repair permissions,
reboot the machine, uninstall/reinstall, delete the old Daemon from sys
prefs panel), none of which worked.

Now a second user has reported receiving the Framework error. Both
users have not had any changes to their systems and were running error
free as of yesterday. Both users are seemingly able to work as usual
after dismissing the error message.

The only other piece of information that I can think to offer is that
Office is installed locally, but the actual user's mac account is stored
on a server.

Does anyone have any further ideas on how to rectify the problem?

Thank you in advance!

This usually means a problem with the Entourage database daemon. Go to
System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items (Startup Items) and remove all
instances of Database Daemon. Then Log out and log back in.

Thank you, but that didn't work, either. Now I'm wondering if the
user's account has a problem. When I log into a different account on
that same machine, I don't see the error. I will probably create a new
account for the user and just let her use that. Hopefully copying over
her toolbars, Personal Macro Workbook, etc. won't perpetuate the problem.

I'm afraid I don't have much to offer, other than in reference to
Office is installed locally, but the actual user's mac account is stored
on a server.

I have noticed a number of problems throughout the newsgroups when remote
home folders are used. You might want to approach the problem from that
direction.

Thank you, CyberTaz, that's a good thought. I don't know how much
success I'll have in convincing my company to rethink their current
approach, but it's worth a shot.
