Launching hyperlink targets in their parent apps.

Hi,

Quick one here - using FP 2002 (10.6308.6626) SP3.

Is it possible to configure a hyperlink so that clicking on it will launch
the document within its parent application (e.g. MSWord, MSExcel etc.)
rather than within a browser window?

My main problem in having these documents open within the browser window is
that I am unable to save any changes to the various documents, with the
absence of the File | Save functionality of the parent app.

Thanx in advance.

RayC.

From your question, I don't know if your problem is the
visitor can't save the modified documents to their own PC
or to the file on the server.

1. If you want the visitor to save the document back to
the server. Think about it.

When you publish to that same server you are asked for a
Username and Password. That is for security purposes. If
a visitor could simply save something back to the server
then you wouldn't have any security on that server.

2. If you are talking about the visitor saving changes to
their PC, look into the Front Page Download component
(see Front Page help).

Thanks Rick,

I should elaborate.

The web I'm working on is an Intranet within a secure corporate network:-
there are no 'visitors', just trusted employees, to whom full read/write
access is available for the documents in question.

So back to you (or anybody else if around) if you don't mind - can it be
done using Frontpage functionality? (I know it can be done by coding but was
looking for a quick fix).

Rgds.
