Launching PP Viewer from XLSM

I know this appears to be a double post but I didn't think of this ng
initially, and I haven't gotten any ng answers since the 10th. Here goes...

I am able to launch the Power Point slide show from Excel 2007, but I
actually want the Power Point Viewer to launch the file. Even if the user
has Power Point, I want the viewer to launch the file.
I have set the file to always launch the viewer but its not working the way
I need it to.

When you right click and select Open With, it will let you select to open
always with the Viewer.


The user may not have power point but they will have the viewer. But some
may have Power Point. I want it only opened in the Viewer.
ORRR is there a way I can have the PP open with the slide show only without
viewing the other screen (Normal View)?

Not sure I fully understand what you need but if you save as > save as type
"powerpoint show *.pps" (scroll down to find it) it will open in show mode.

You have to remember something: the computer's in front of you and I
can't see
through you. From your description, the best I can do is guess what
you're
doing.

My guess is that you're rightclicking a PPT or PPS file in Windows
Explorer and
choosing always open with the viewer.

If so, that tells *your* copy of Windows always to use the viewer for that
particular file extension. It doesn't change the file in any way and has
no
effect on what happens to the file on other computers.


Ah. Now we're getting somewhere.

Just change the file's extension to .PPS instead of PPT and it'll open in
the
viewer if that's all they have or it'll open directly into slideshow mode
if
they have PowerPoint.

Case closed?
