Layer Color Visio 2002

I am trying to use the Layer Color option in the Layer Properties box, to
color shapes in a particular layer.

The most I can get it to do is color the border around the outside of
shapes. Some shapes such as doors won't color at all.

Could someone please tell me what this option does? Any help would be
really appreciated.

Your challange is that some of the objects you are trying to change are
actually groups of objects and as such each of the sub objects will have to
be changed so that they are "layer aware", a very tedious and time consuming
operation unless you want to write code to do it.
