Layered template

Can anyone tell me how to create a LAYERED template in publisher. By
layered, I mean where there are tabs in which text is displayed down the side
which leads to that particular page, the the next tab "events", sort a. I've
seen it done with funeral programs but don't know how to achieve the effect
in publisher. Has anyone ever done this technique before or can anyone help
inhow to achieve this?

J

JoAnn Paules

Not in Publisher. Maybe in a different desktop publishing application. Are
you trying to do something for print on the web?

G

galvet

No JoAnn, not for webpublishing.
I've seen them in funeral programs with a graduated-fold similar to the ones
here which were done in publisher. See the link below to gain a better
understanding of what I'm talking about:

Okay, makes sense. Two choices. Use one publication and mark off an area to
stay clear of or use multiple publications of varying sizes.

Are you going to print these yourself or send them out?

Hi Joanne,

I'm going to print them out myself. I stll don't know how to go about doing
so. Can you give me a rough idea in based on the visual I provided. I've
been racking my brains SENSELESS trying to accomplish it and it isn't coming

I'd suggest you start with blank paper and a paper cutter to work out what
you need.

There isn't any cutting involved with this type layout. How many pages are you
using? If you are using three sheets of paper it is where you fold.
Page one the fold line is 4.5
Page two the fold line is 5
Page three the fold line is 5.25
There are variations depending on your printer's margin limitation and how many
pages. In any event it is a manual layout.

Hi Mary!

THANKS! For the information. It really does shed more light on this plight
of mine. There will going to be 4 pages (which will be eight). I'm working
as I email trying to use the measurements provided. I'm trying to make a
template as I do church programs and people have asked me about the technique
and have requested graduated edges. I'll report how it turns out later
tonite. I still need clarification on "fold line". Exactly would that BE in
terms of the booklet type of style I'm trying to use. You says page 1, the
fold line if 4.5? Where would I start the measurement to set it up in
Publisher? I hope I put the question right to be able to understand what I'm
saying. The folks at FP (link provided) says the programs they design are in
Publisher format. I'd like to be able to do it for the various church
functions we have.

Mary,
You are truly a LIFESAVER! Thank you so very much for supplying the basis
for the template I had in mind. This is exactly what I've been trying to do
and I've been at it for month on end...since April of this year! I mean I've
been busting my brain and waiting oodles and oodles of paper and ink in my
futile attempts to get it right. Again, my heartfelt appreciation and
sincerest thanks.

I'm
saying. The folks at FP (link provided) says the programs they design
are
in
Publisher format. I'd like to be able to do it for the various church
functions we have.

There isn't any cutting involved with this type layout. How many pages
are
you
using? If you are using three sheets of paper it is where you fold.
Page one the fold line is 4.5
Page two the fold line is 5
Page three the fold line is 5.25
There are variations depending on your printer's margin limitation and
how
many
pages. In any event it is a manual layout.

Hi Joanne,

I'm going to print them out myself. I stll don't know how to go
about
doing
so. Can you give me a rough idea in based on the visual I provided.
I've
been racking my brains SENSELESS trying to accomplish it and it isn't
coming
out right. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Okay, makes sense. Two choices. Use one publication and mark off an
area
to
stay clear of or use multiple publications of varying sizes.

Are you going to print these yourself or send them out?

No JoAnn, not for webpublishing.
I've seen them in funeral programs with a graduated-fold similar
to
the
ones
here which were done in publisher. See the link below to gain a
better
understanding of what I'm talking about:

Not in Publisher. Maybe in a different desktop publishing
application.
Are
you trying to do something for print on the web?

Can anyone tell me how to create a LAYERED template in
publisher.
By
layered, I mean where there are tabs in which text is displayed
down
the
side
which leads to that particular page, the the next tab "events",
sort
a.
I've
seen it done with funeral programs but don't know how to
achieve
the
effect
in publisher. Has anyone ever done this technique before or
can
anyone
help
inhow to achieve this?
